An assessment of the Clinical Pathology Laboratories in Belo Horizonte, MG, was carried out in 1978, and the 3 categories identified (Private, Institutional and Hospital) were compared in relation to the types of exams performed, to the clientele and to the Laboratories’ personnel. Based on the results obtained, a typical “profile” for each category studied was drawn up.
